Give your pages your own address
Cloud Pages run on Salesforce’s own address unless you give them yours. A private domain from Salesforce, such as preferences.yourbrand.com, shows your name in the address bar, is trusted more by visitors, and lets your website’s cookie choices reach your forms.
Why it matters
mc8a1f3k2l9.pub.sfmc-content.comSalesforce’s own address: it works, but visitors don’t recognise it as you.
preferences.nordiccoffee.comYour private domain: your name in the address bar, one website for consent and cookies.
- People trust a preference centre, an unsubscribe page or a form more when the address carries your name.
- Your website’s cookie choices can reach pages on your own domain, so visitors aren’t asked twice.
- Many teams leave Cloud Pages only because of the address. You don’t have to: the pages stay in your Marketing Cloud.
How to get one
- Ask your Salesforce account executive for a private domain for Cloud Pages (a subdomain you own, such as preferences.yourbrand.com). The private domain in a Sender Authentication Package is usually kept for email; a second one for your pages is best.
- Your IT team delegates that subdomain to Salesforce; Salesforce sets it up and secures it (Setup › Domain SSL Certificates).
- Publish your Formentic page on it, then paste the new address in Formentic: forms and links follow.
Securing it in Marketing Cloud
An administrator of the top-level account opens Setup, searches for Domain SSL Certificates, chooses the domain and Secure this Domain. Salesforce can only secure a domain delegated to it, and you need enough certificates for your domains. A certificate can take about ten days; the page shows Secured when it is done.
With Formentic
- Health › Cloud Pages tells you when your pages run on Salesforce’s own address.
- Your architecture plan (Consent and preferences) says which address to ask for.
- Once the new address is live, paste it on Health › Cloud Pages: Formentic checks it and your forms and links follow.
